Janet Adams
Welcome to my hypnotherapy practice! I’m Janet Adams, a Clinical Hypnotherapist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. My journey into hypnotherapy began with my own experiences using hypnosis to navigate life’s challenges as an autistic adult. The transformative impact it had on my well-being inspired me to help others achieve the same positive results.
My Hypnotherapy Journey
I trained at CPHT (Clifton Practice Hypnotherapy Training), widely regarded as the Gold Standard in hypnotherapy education. During my studies, I completed over 400 hours of training and practical sessions, culminating in my qualification as a fully certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
In 2019, I proudly opened my own practice. Shortly after, I transitioned to working exclusively online, offering clients the same outstanding results in a more flexible and convenient format.

Understanding Hypnosis
Focused Attention: Hypnotherapy is goal-oriented, helping you concentrate your mental energy on positive change.
Trance State: Trance is a natural, everyday state of mind—much like being absorbed in a book or a film. In this relaxed state, your mind becomes open to new ways of thinking, creating neural pathways that support beneficial habits and behaviors. Trance is so effective that it has even been used for pain management in clinical settings, such as at Liège Hospital in Belgium, which has been incorporating hypnosis into surgeries since 1992.
A Timeless Practice: While the term “hypnosis” may sound modern, the use of trance for healing dates back thousands of years, including Ancient Egypt’s Sleep Temples.
During hypnosis, your intellectual mind rests, reducing the brain’s “white noise.” This calm state allows you to tap into your inner problem-solving abilities—like a scientist finding inspiration while daydreaming. Hypnosis empowers you to reshape unhelpful habits and embrace positive change.

Affirmations can be a simple way to make a positive impact on our mood and wellbeing. Our brains or thoughts aren’t set in stone, neuroplasticity means our brains have the ability to change. How we think about and talk to ourselves has a big impact on our body and mind so why not give ourselves the chance to thrive?
6 Ways to Avoid Repeating the Same Mistakes
The beauty of hypnosis is the ease of effort that comes with allowing your deep inner knowledge make the powerful changes you want to make. It may not be for everyone and identifying, facing, monitoring and making new habits can also help you break free from unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
